CORAL GABLES, Fla. -

President Barack Obama left Miami International Airport on Thursday afternoon after his quick visit to South Florida.

President Obama attended a Spanish-language forum at the University of Miami in the afternoon where he spoke with anchors from Univision. On Wednesday, Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney participated in the same forum.

President Obama seemed prepared for a question on immigration reform from Univision anchor Jorge Ramos.

"You promised that. And, a promise is a promise, and, with all due respect, you didn't keep that promise," said Ramos.

"Well, here's what I would say, Jorge, is that, and we've had this conversation before," said President Obama. "I have never wavered in my support of comprehensive immigration reform. We did put forward a Dream Act that was passed in the House, got the overwhelming majority of support from Democrats in the Senate and was blocked by the Republican Party."

President Obama blamed Republicans in Congress for much of his incomplete agenda. He also blamed himself for thinking he could change the culture of Washington.

"And, the most important lesson I've learned is that you can't change Washington from the inside. You can only change it from the inside," said President Obama.

When asked about Romney's 47 percent remarks, President Obama said Romney must be out of touch.

"When you express an attitude that half the country considers itself victims, that, somehow they want to be dependent on government, my thinking is maybe you haven't gotten around a lot," said President Obama. "People want a hand-up, not a handout. Are there people who abuse the system? Both at the bottom and at the top. Because there are a whole bunch of millionaires who aren't paying taxes at all, either."

The president currently has at least a 15 point lead with Hispanic voters, and used the forum to appeal for more.

"For the Latino community, I would say, the work that we've done on education, on immigration, on housing, on putting people back to work, on making sure small businesses have access to financing, those are all issues of what's representative of what you care about, your values," said President Obama.

After leaving UM, President Obama stopped at OMG! Burger, where he ate with students. He talked to the students about loans and grants, according to pool reporters.

President Obama left MIA at about 4:20 p.m.

Romney was in Sarasota and West Palm Beach on Thursday.

New polls released this week showed Obama with a slight edge.
