Canes beat Maryland 54-47

CORAL GABLES, Fla. -

Kenny Kadji scored 14 points as Miami defeated Maryland 54-47 Sunday night.

Trey McKinney Jones finished with 12 points to help the Hurricanes (12-3, 3-0) open Atlantic Coast Conference play with three consecutive wins for the first time.

McKinney Jones' two free throws with 38.4 seconds remaining increased Miami's lead to 50-44. Durand Scott secured the win with a fast-break layup that made it 52-44 with 24 seconds left.

Alex Len scored eight straight points for the Terrapins late in the second half. His dunk with 39 seconds left got Maryland within 48-44.

Dez Wells scored 18 points for Maryland (13-3, 1-2). Len finished with 16 points.

Both teams struggled offensively most of the game. Miami led only 19-14 at halftime.
