A few weeks ago, I wrote a blog saying it would be a no-brainer decision for the Dolphins to chase Peyton Manning if he became available and was healthy.
Well, today he become available. I'll keep my message simple again; yes, the Dolphins should look into signing him. Why wouldn't they?
But, it all depends on his health. Manning is one of the greatest QB's in NFL history and the Fins have been searching for a QB since Dan Marino retired. It seems like a match made in heaven.
Much was made today about Manning flying to South Florida after his emotional press conference in Indianapolis, but remember, Manning has an off season condo here. Don't connect the dots and assume this is where he wants to play or is focused on signing.
First of all, Manning wants to prove to himself and NFL teams that he's healthy enough to play. He made it clear that he's improving but still has a lot of work to do.
When he does that, Manning will then sign with a team that will give him a chance to win. That's all Manning is about. The Dolphins may just be that team, but so could the Cardinals, Seahawks. Titans, Redskins or Jets. That's naming just a few teams that will likely show interest.
Once again, why wouldn't teams in need of a QB look into him? A healthy Manning could make any average team into a legitimate contender.
That could very well be the Dolphins, but before you look into buying your Manning No. 18 jerseys, let's first see how this all plays out.
