I've been happy to work at WPLG for 13 years now, and in that time, I've seen just about everything in South Florida sports.

From Nick Saban saying he would stay in Miami and then leaving to Alabama, to Lebron;s "decision" on national TV.  Yes, South Florida tends to be a spot filled with the wild, wacky and flat-out bizarre.  Chalk up this Peyton Manning chase as all of the above.

I was sent over to Dolphins camp today, and I arrived to see dozens of TV crews set up outside of the facility.  Was Peyton coming?  Did we get a tip that the Dolphins had a meeting set-up there?  Did we expect Peyton to be there?  Uh, the answer would be "no" to all of those questions.  Yet, there we all were leading our newscasts with the Manning watch stories.

Meantime, Twitter was buzzing with "sources" saying this and "insiders" saying that.  It was enough to make anyone's head spin.  But, is Manning really any closer to coming to Miami?  It's hard to say, but now the latest report is that Manning ALREADY met with the Fins and the meeting took place in INDIANAPOLIS.

It's been well documented that Manning has an off-season home here in South Florida.  Despite that, he flew cross country to meet with officials from Denver and Arizona first, before finally deciding to talk with Miami.  Dol-Fans can only hope the reported meeting helped Manning get a better perception of the Dolphins franchise.

We all know what that perception is; desperate owner, fickle fan base, new head coach that no one knows much about and a solid, but unspectacular roster.  It's not exactly the easiest sell to one of the greatest quarterbacks of all-time.
Throw in the fact that Miami plays in a brutally tough division, and it seems like the Fins chances aren't very good.

That's probably the case, but a meeting does make it seem better.

Either way, it certainly won't stop us, all the other local stations and the national media from converging at Fins camp in Davie, at Sun Life stadium or even at Manning's condo in South Beach.  Remember, we all love a wacky story in Miami, so this Manning watch is just perfection.

Let's just all make sure the news helicopters have more fuel, because the chase continues.
