Bosh was taken to South Miami Hospital Thursday after complaining of a pain in his rib cage.

According to the Miami Herald, Bosh may have blood clots on his lungs, or a pulmonary embolus, which would mean he would be out the rest of the season, and possibly longer.

Heat officials only said that nothing is conclusive. The team had previously announced that Bosh would not travel to New York for Friday night's game vs. the Knicks.

Herald writers were first to report that Bosh was taken to the hospital for testing.

According to the Herald's Joseph Goodman, Bosh was complaining of a pain in his rib cage while attending the NBA All-Star Game in New York City last weekend. Bosh and teammate Dwyane Wade traveled to Haiti following the All-Star Game.

Head Coach Erik Spoelstra addressed Bosh's injury after shootaround on Friday.

Spoelstra said the Heat do not believe the situation is life threatening.

The team does not have a full diagnosis yet.

Heat guard Dwyane Wade and Coach Spoelstra both spoke with Bosh.

He told them that he's grateful for the quality of care he's receiving.

The sobering news comes on the day when the Heat were able to obtain point guard Goran Dragic in a multi-player mega-trade with the Phoenix Suns and New Orleans Pelicans.

Bosh is having an outstanding season, averaging 21.1 points and 7 rebounds a game.
