Dontrelle Willis to retire

Former Marlins pitcher calls it a career

MIAMI – The D-Train is calling it a career.

Former Marlins pitcher Dontrelle Willis is going to be retiring from baseball, according to a report by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Willis has not pitched in a big league game since 2011.

Marlins fans will remember Dontrelle-Mania well.

He was he NL rookie of the year in 2003 after going 14-6 with a 3.30 ERA.

Every night that he pitched, became an event.

Willis spent five years with the Fish before being traded to Detroit.

Willis was limited by injuries.

He bounced around to Arizona and Cincinnati.

In 2005, Willis went 22-10 with a 2.63 ERA and finished second in Cy Young voting.
