ESPN: Golden talking to Penn State

Golden reportedly to meet with Nittany Lions about head coaching job

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Is the Al Golden era at the University of Miami already nearing an end?

Rumored to be a candidate to become the next head coach at Penn State, ESPN analyst Joe Schad is reporting that Golden will talk with his alma mater to fill the position vacated by Bill O'Brien earlier this week.

Schad tweeted Friday afternoon, "Penn State source said Al Golden agreed to speak about the opening as early as today because 'It would be coming home.'"

Golden played and coached under Joe Paterno at Penn State.

The Nittany Lions are searching for a new head coach after O'Brien left the school to take the same position with the NFL's Houston Texans. Penn State is still serving out NCAA sanctions stemming from the Jerry Sandusky scandal.

Despite having to deal with an NCAA investigation during his three seasons at Miami, Golden led the Hurricanes to a 22-15 record during that time and an appearance in the Russell Athletic Bowl this past season.

Reports say that Penn State will also interview Vanderbilt head coach James Franklin.
