FIU basketball court damaged by CrossFit competition event

RAID Games VI held over weekend leaves splintered holes throughout court

MIAMI – Florida International University's basketball team had to get a bit cozy on a smaller alternate court for practice Tuesday.

RAID Games VI, a CrossFit competition, was held this past weekend at the arena, leaving splintered holes throughout the court.

FIU's Athletic Department refused to give Local 10 a good look at the damage but said repairs would start Tuesday.

The department said in a released statement, "As a result of an outside event held at FIU Arena this past weekend, the court was damaged. The event was fully insured. We anticipate repairs being complete over the next couple of weeks."

Basketball season starts in November.
