Free agent booked into jail in Indiana early Thursday morning

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana – Former Miami Heat center Greg Oden was arrested early Thursday morning on battery charges in Indiana.

The NBA free agent, who played for the Miami Heat last season, was booked into jail Thursday morning on two misdemeanor charges of battery.

According to the police report, the 26-year-old was arrested at a home along Maple Bluff Place in Indianapolis. The report listed the victim as a 24-year-old woman who suffered minor injuries. 

Oden reportedly punched the unidentified woman in the face. The ABC affiliate in Indianapolis reports officers found her lying inside the home with blood covering her face and blood on the floor. Oden allegedly admitted to hitting the woman during a struggle and told police, "I was wrong and I know what has to happen." 

Police said Oden told them the victim was his ex-girlfriend whom he had dated for about two years. He said they broke up two months ago.

A 25-year-old witness was also mentioned in the police report. She has not been identified. Reports said she was the best friend of the victim and told police Oden had punched her friend in the face.
