LeBron James may have stayed in Miami had Heat beaten Spurs

Former Heat star says it 'would be hard to leave' 3-peat performance

PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – LeBron James said he might still be playing for the Miami Heat had the team not lost to San Antonio in the NBA Finals last season.

"I mean, it's a greater chance, for sure," James told CNN's Rachel Nichols in an excerpt from interview released Thursday.

The Cleveland Cavaliers star, who returned to the team he spurned for Miami in 2010, said it "would be hard to leave back-to-back-to-back championships, you know, and try to go for four," but James said he "can't think of what may have happened."

James said he's the kind of guy who chooses to "live in the moment."

Miami lost to the Spurs in five games last season. The Heat played in four consecutive NBA Finals while James was a member of the team, losing to the Dallas Mavericks in his debut season but defeating the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2012 and Spurs in 2013.
