Miami Dolphins release renderings of stadium upgrades

10,000 seats to be eliminated to make room for more premium seating

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The theme of the renovations at Sun Life Stadium seems to be "quality over quantity." As they prepare for the 2015 football season, the stadium renovations will include eliminating 10,000 seats to make room for more premium seating in the lower bowl.

The Miami Dolphins are getting season-ticket members up to speed on their seating options and giving holders a virtual tour of the new stadium.

The interactive ticket selection suites are part of the new Samsung Business Preview Center where fans can see a 3-D view of the seats that they are interested in purchasing.

A big question from lifelong season ticket holders has been preservation of their original seats.

Jason Green, senior director of membership and premium services, says since it is a brand-new stadium, ticket holders won't necessarily get their original seats. However, the seat selection process is determined by tenure to give the longstanding season ticket members first choice on seats.

Pricing is another question for ticket holders. Green says the Miami Dolphins have preserved the lower level pricing to match the rates season ticket members currently pay.

Longtime season ticket holders have the option to take the virtual tour in person at Sun Life Stadium by appointment or review their options online. Each member has a seat selection date when they can make their final selections. The Miami Dolphins currently have 4,000 new ticket inquiries for the 2015 season.

The full renovations, including the new canopy, are set for completion prior to the 2016-17 season.
