Dion Jordan suspended for 2015 season

Dolphins DE violated substance abuse policy

The team announced Tuesday that Jordan has been suspended without pay for violating the NFL policy and program for substances of abuse.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that while Jordan did not fail a drug test, the NFL determined one of his test samples was diluted.

That counts as a strike.

"We were disappointed to learn about Dion Jordan's most recent suspension for violating the NFL's Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse," a team statement read. "A player's health and well-being are of the utmost importance to us. We have made every effort to support Dion, both on and off the field and we will continue to do so to the extent allowable under NFL guidelines."

The Dolphins were reportedly working on a deal to trade Jordan to the Eagles when the test results came back.

The former third overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft did not report to the team's voluntary workouts last week.

In his short career, Jordan has registered a total of three sacks and 46 tackles. That's a far cry from the numbers he was producing at Oregon, where he registered 86 tackles, 23.5 tackles for loss and 12.5 sacks in his final two seasons with the Ducks.
