Report: Marlins' Alvarez Heading to Disabled List

MIAMI – With Jose Fernandez still recovering from Tommy John surgery, the Marlins could ill-afford another injury to one of their top starters. But it appears they're now dealing with just that.

Jon Morosi of MLB Network and Fox Sports is reporting that opening day starter Henderson Alvarez is heading to the disabled list because of a shoulder injury. Multiple reports indicated Alvarez was set to undergo an MRI on Monday after Sunday's loss to Tampa Bay.
