When Griese went down with an injury, Morrall stepped in and helped lead the Dolphins to perfection.

Morrall was born in May 17, 1934 in Muskegon, Michigan.

He attended Michigan State.

His pro career spanned from 1956 to 1976 when he was 42 years old.

Morrall played for Pittsburgh, Detroit, the New York Giants, Baltimore, and finally the Dolphins.

Coach Don Shula said, "I was very saddened to learn about Earl's passing.  He was someone who was good a person as he was a player.  When I think about Earl, what stands out the most is what a competitor he was on the field and how special he was off it."
