MIAMI – Miami has failed in its effort to host the 2018 Super Bowl.
In fact, the city didn't even get the opportunity to compete for the shot at Super Bowl LII.

The NFL announced that Minneapolis, Indianapolis and New Orleans would be the finalists to host the game in 2018.
Miami, which lost out to San Francisco and Houston to host the 2016 and 2017 Super Bowls, was one of six cities that submitted applications to host the game. Tampa and Dallas were also left out of the running.
Dolphins owner Stephen Ross has said that the failure to secure funding for renovations to Sun Life Stadium would prohibit the NFL from awarding Super Bowls to South Florida.
"We're obviously disappointed that our effort to bring the Super Bowl back to South Florida wasn't successful. We've had ten Super Bowls here because it's an ideal market to host big events, but we're now facing more intense competition from multiple modernized facilities. We will continue to work hard to attract big events – and their corresponding economic impact and job creation – to the State of Florida," said Tom Garfinkel, the President and CEO of the Dolphins.
