The Hurricanes and Golden Panthers haven't met in football since 2007, but the rivalry is most remembered for the brawl-marred game played in 2006 in which 13 players were ejected for fighting.

In the days following the game, a combined 31 players from both schools were suspended.

Miami is 2-0 all-time vs. FIU.

The first game of the future series will be played on Sept. 22, 2018 at Sun Life Stadium. The second meeting in 2019 will be an FIU home game, although the location has yet to be determined.
