Trader Joe's opens in Pinecrest

Trader Joe's specialty grocery store opens in South Florida

PINECREST, Fla. – South Florida's first Trader Joe's opened in Pinecrest on Friday.

Even before the lights went on, dozens of people lined up bright and early outside the 13,500 square foot location at 9205 South Dixie Highway.

Trader Joe's is known for its inexpensive products and its Hawaiian-inspired decor. The company prides itself in their private label products, which include everything from cookies to wine.

Although the California-based grocery chain does not market themselves as a health food store, their products do not have artificial flavoring, coloring or preservatives.

According to Trader Joe's website, the Pinecrest store is just one of many to come to the South Florida area. A Boca Raton store is expected to open its doors next year.

Residents in Naples, Sarasota, Gainesville and Tallahassee already enjoy the goodies the store provides.

Since its launch in 1958, the chain has grown to more than 400 stores in 35 states.
