MIAMI -

On this date in 1925, the deadliest tornado in U.S. history ("The Tri-State Tornado") claimed nearly 700 lives. It caused seventeen million dollars in damage along a path of 219 miles long that crossed through Missouri and Indiana. Seven other tornadoes caused nearly 100 additional deaths that same day.
