National Weather Service confirms touchdown of EF-0 tornado in Boca Raton

SOUTH FLORIDA ā€“ Thursday was another day of severe weather across South Florida.

Boca Raton police reported a possible tornado touchdown near Northwest 2nd Avenue and 28th Street, later confirmed by the National Weather Service as an EF-0 tornado, reaching wind speeds up to 70 miles per hour.

NWS said the tornado's path length was 0.4 miles long and its estimated width was 40 yards.

Pictures showed recycling bins tangled in power lines, a stop sign bent over, and wooden fences blown off their hinges.

"I just heard the window and I looked outside and everything was swirling around and things were hitting my car," said one woman.

A trampoline was blown into some trees.

"I thought it was a tornado," said one man. "That's why I closed the doors. It started getting really, really windy. I just started seeing brush flying by my truck where my truck was parked."
