Severe weather floods parts of South Florida

Drivers stranded, people stuck at jobs

MEDLEY, Fla. ā€“ A few brave drivers took their chances in flood waters across South Florida, specifically in Medley.

The rising water stranded several drivers and employees were stuck at their jobs Thursday.

"Been stuck here about a half an hour," said one man whose BMW had flooded.

Tow trucks stood by in the area of 89th Avenue as car after car became stranded or needed help leaving their office parking lot.

Many in the commerce area said they always have flooding problems, only this time was worse.

"One of our employees had to pay a tow truck 20 dollars," said Perry Bekerman, who was stranded for three hours at work.

There were similar scenes all across South Florida as severe weather rolled through.

As of 10 p.m., employees were still picking up their vehicles.

Public works employees said a project is underway to relieve flooding in the area.
