WPLG general manager inducted into Miami Dade College Alumni Hall of Fame

Bert Medina recognized for his work in journalism

MIAMI – Miami Dade College recently inducted several of their alumni into the Alumni Hall of Fame.

The awards ceremony was held Tuesday night at the JW Marriott Marquis in downtown Miami.

Among those inducted was Bert Medina, WPLG's vice president and general manager. He represented the Journalism-Broadcast category.

"I am completely humbled by this award, and on top of that I have the privilege to be able to work at the one and only Local 10," Medina said. "You can't have a greater night than this."

Medina grew up in South Florida and graduated from Miami Dade College in 1982.

This year's inductees represent a variety of industries including business, health care, visual arts, journalism, sports, law and public service. Other Hall of Famers include music industry mogul Emilio Estefan, former Dolphins receiver Nat Moore, Carnival Chairman and CEO Micky Arison and U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, R-Fla.

The college's annual Hall of Fame gala benefits the alumni scholarship fund, a prime source of scholarship funding and support for students.
