FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Deputies arrested a 44-year-old fugitive with a history of bank fraud cases on Tuesday at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.

Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies held Darlene Shipp on Wednesday afternoon at the main jail in Fort Lauderdale on an out-of-state hold.

Records show Shipp has been in and out of jail in Alabama’s Montgomery County, and detectives have accused her of defrauding banks.

In 2015, a television station in Montgomery reported Sgt. Denise Barnes accused her of “seeking out males who are looking to make easy money” and giving them forged stolen checks to defraud a bank.

In 2018, a newspaper in Montgomery reported Shipp was arrested again for trying to defraud a bank of more than $7,600. The alleged fraud involved forged checks again.

BSO inmate records show that her recent arrest at the airport was on a warrant related to burglary, robbery, and theft.
