Gozo appeared before Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge Mindy Glazer on Wednesday to face a charge for a crime allegedly committed on Oct. 7, in Hialeah.

Gozo was facing a charge of lewd and lascivious assault on a child. But the prosecution said the case merited a lewd and lascivious molestation of a child charge.

Glazer said that because of the “serious nature” of the case, she was denying his bond and ordering pre-trial detention. She also ordered Gozo to stay away from the child, and 500 feet away from his home and school.

Records show Gozo has a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement hold. The court set Gozo’s pre-trial detention hearing for 9:15 a.m. on Thursday, and his arraignment hearing for 9:15 p.m., on May 7.

Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge Teresa Mary Pooler was set to preside over the case.

Detectives asked anyone with information about this or other cases to call Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
