Ricardo Desrazines, 20, wanted in connection with shooting of toddler

Police: Desrazines shot 3-year-old boy during domestic dispute

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Police are searching for a 20-year-old man they believe is responsible for a shooting at a northwest Miami-Dade County home.

Police said Ricardo Desrazines shot Jayden Gomez, 3, on Sunday at his ex-girlfriend's home in the 200 block of Northwest 82nd Street.

According to officers, Jayden's 17-year-old mother, Jenny Gomez, was home with her son and current boyfriend when she heard a loud noise. She opened the front door and Desrazines allegedly hit her and tried to force his way inside the home -- eventually kicking the door in.

Police said the other man, who is also the father of Jayden, tried to help fight Desrazines off of the teen, and a struggle ensued over the gun. That's when the toddler was shot in the leg.

Jenny Gomez's family members said Desrazines is the father of her youngest child, but did not specify the baby's age.

Jayden was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.

On Monday, the Department of Children and Families took custody of both children from the mother. DCF officials ordered Gomez's father and grandmother to clean up their home, which was deemed unsuitable for children to live in, within 12 hours if they wanted custody of the children.
